This is a tough one! It changes depending on my mood and the decade!

Physically… pull ups. In life… patience!

Instructor Highlight Rebecca

Rebecca

We have had a number of instructors join our team, so we thought it would be worthwhile to help you get to know them with a little instructor highlight.  Currently, Rebecca teaches for Personal Euphoria in Wethersfield on Tuesday nights and Rocky Hill on Thursday nights.

The Questions & Answers:

When you aren’t teaching what are some of your favorite ways to move?

Dance and Zumba!

What song motivates or picks you up the most?

“Handlebars” by The Flobots. This song came out the year I graduated high school, and always remained on my personal playlist. It can be perceived as having dark imagery, but it’s a reminder that anything is possible whether it’s used for good or evil. I still love that heavy, driving beat.

Favorite Food?

Anything using avocado

Time you normally crawl into bed?

Never soon enough, it seems!

What skill would you like to master?

Pressing up into a handstand.

What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?

For me, photographing new born seal pups in the Arctic! They’re so cute!

Favorite season?  Why?

My favorite season is fall. It’s as if nature is revealing her canvass of colors then.

Best advice you’ve ever gotten?

“By failing to prepare, you […]

Five Years: Thanks to Our Instructors

This month marks Personal Euphoria’s fifth birthday.  It’s an accomplishment I’m quite proud of especially since we’ve been brining Pilates to people through one of the worst economies in the history of our country.

I couldn’t have done it alone.  For one thing if I didn’t have such wonderful clients I wouldn’t love my job as much as I do.  And if I didn’t have the great team of instructors, not only would Personal Euphoria not have as many fun clients, but my life would be less rewarding.  So I want to use this blog to say a couple nice words about all our current instructors.  None of these ladies can be summed up in a sentence or two, but I’ll try.  And if you take one of their classes, please feel free to add to this list of what makes these women fantastic.

Jeannine—was the first instructor to join Personal Euphoria.  She gave me the […]

Outside Air

I love all the instructors at Personal Euphoria, but I especially love them when they call me in the dead of winter after we’ve had two snow storms that dropped over a foot of snow like Jeannine did this morning and tell me the following:
“I think I’m going to move my stationary bike outside. I need to breath the outside air because it makes me feel good.”
Joe Pilates would love this. It’s so simple and so true. It’s one of the reasons that I really don’t mind shoveling, especially when time isn’t an obstacle. Last week after I finished shoveling on Thursday morning, I just laid down in the path I’d shoveled and looked up at the sky and took a few deep breaths. If my neighbors could have seen me they probably would have thought I was crazy, but I just didn’t want to go back inside right away. It felt so good to be out. I guess I have to admit it, I felt really good after I shoveled […]

Instructor Spotlight: Heather

If you missed our e-newsletter last week and didn’t get to see our instructor spotlight, fear not. Here is what Heather had to say:

Heather currently teaches Pilates classes in Bloomfield and Tolland. She loves Pilates because “it has brought new attention to my body.” She went to college to study fine arts, and is now a practicing photographer. In addition to being a Pilates instructor, she is the Coordinator of Adult Public Programs at the New Britain Museum of American Art and a mom to four grown children. She claims to have a million hobbies, including hiking, reading (her favorite being The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy), walking, and of course…art! Of her teaching style, Heather says, “The most important point I try to get across to my students is the time and commitment it takes to strengthen our entire body. One hour a couple of times a week is such an important time to give to ourselves to work on our own bodies. As your teacher, for one hour, I try to help you redefine […]
