Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year. I love to eat. I really enjoy my family. And everyone gathers without the crazy rush of Christmas time. Turkey day kicks off the holiday season. And though that season can be crazy I really do enjoy it.
This is a very reflective time of year, which can bring out a lot of emotions. It’s always a good time to stop and take stock. I feel very lucky. I love my job and the work I do. But that is entirely because we have a wonderful team of instructors and phenomenal clients.
I look forward to every person I meet with privately and every group class I teach. And since that is really the brunt of my job, I’m extraordinary lucky.
So thank you. Thank you for caring for yourself and trusting our team to guide you through movement. Thank you for showing up with a positive outlook. Thank you for trusting in us on days you don’t feel like coming or the world or your body isn’t doing what you want it to. Thank you for laughing with us when our jokes are good and when they are corny. Thank you for trying because movement isn’t always easy, especially Pilates. Thank you for feedback. Because when it’s positive we feel great, but when it’s not you provide us an opportunity to grow and improve, and we respect that and don’t take it for granted. Thank you for reading the newsletter. It makes me happier then you know that you are willing give a few minutes of your day to read something I wrote.
On and off since high school, I’ve kept a gratitude book. I love looking back on it because there are just these random line items of joy. I’ll share these snippets from 2016:
· Leisurely mornings
· Stilts
· Eating a healthy and appropriate portion of ice cream
· The ability to walk
· Ice cream (there is a trend in my gratitude)
· My grandma’s smile
· Helping people move
· Garlic
· Podcasts
· Unexpected snow
Just rereading through the memories makes me smile again. As we approach the New Year, may the end of this one be filled with moments that bring you joy. Moments that you stop to enjoy because no matter how small or short you found happiness in the experience. In my dreams, the next time you are in one of our classes you will zip your jeans, take a breath, or do a bicep curl and have one of those moments. A moment where you realize that in the simplest of movements you are happy. I wish that for you because movement makes me happy. You make me happy. And I thank you for continually letting me share that with you.
End sappiness now.
I am thankful for you Maggie. You are such an inspiration. I was always athletic but never exercised regularly until I took an early retirement and began your Pilates classes. You make exercise fun and the hour flies by. I feel so much better altogether, both physically and emotionally. I leave your class excited and grateful for the day ahead. Thank you
