Most people diet in order to lose weight. We all want to be skinny. But there are better reasons to watch what we eat. Our health is more important than being skinny. And living longer is also a better option. Science keeps proving that calorie restriction (with adequate nutrition) increases lifespan.
A recent 20-year study of rhesus monkeys revealed that after 20 years of moderate calorie restriction 80% of the monkeys in the test group (restricted calories) were still alive while only 50% of the control group (no calorie restriction) were still alive. T
That doesn’t definitely mean the same is true for humans, but I’d like that extra 30% chance at life, myself.
